• Sr. Payroll Accountant

  • Job Summary

    Manage and oversee the payroll process in a multi-state environment (US and Canada). Ensure all employee records are maintained relative to earnings, taxes, and deductions, the employee is paid timely according to state and federal laws while adhering to company policies and procedures. Manage tax reporting and payroll system maintenance.


    • Manages/maintains full payroll function for US/Canada employees (approx. 300 employees)

    • Manages/maintains payroll for employees outside US/Canada (about 5 employees)  

    • Deliver high quality and on time payroll services.

    • Enter all payroll-related modifications including wage and tax adjustments, ESPP, Equity and other benefits, 401(k) deductions, garnishments, etc.

    • Ensure to co-ordinate for all applicable monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc).

    • Processes payroll and commissions using ADP for the US and Canada employees for the 15th and last day of the month pay dates.

    • Reconciles payroll related accounts monthly as part of the month-end close and provide general ledger support for all payroll and benefits on a timely basis.

    • Maintains up-to-date organized and accurate payroll records.

    • Responsible for processing payroll tax, worker’s compensation quarterly filing.

    • Verifies on a sample basis employee expense reports for US and Canada.

    • Overall, take complete ownership of payroll / reconciliation activities.

    • Must be able to keep-up with current/new payroll requirements

    • Other duties as required


    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field with 8+ years of progressive experience in a payroll function.

    • Knowledge of ADP payroll and NetSuite.

    • Experience with multi-state/multi-unit full charge payroll processing, including new hires, terminations, check processing, payroll tax and payroll journal entries.

    • Experience on complex payroll related issues including ESPP, share-based compensation, tax withholding, employee mobility, federal, state and local statutory requirements, and non-exempt employee pay.

    • Strong understanding of upstream and downstream processes such as HR functions and payroll accounting.

    • Strong customer orientation, problem solving and support for company employees.

    • Effective interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.

    • Must be detail - oriented and team player.

    • Working knowledge of MS Suite, advanced Excel skills with a strong emphasis on pivot tables.
