Job Summary

Aerohive is looking for a passionate Systems Engineer (SE) based in Southern California, to join our dynamic Sales & Engineering organization.


As an SE, you’ll be supporting sales productivity and deal flow by securing the “technical close”. The SE partners closely with Aerohive account managers, the inside sales team, and channel partners offering pre-sales support in presenting our solution offerings and architecture while translating the needs of our customers and channel. The SE is responsible for evoking confidence in Aerohive's functionality and technology infrastructure, and removing all technical objections in the sales cycle. We’re looking for a technical problem solver, who is passionate about technology and can effectively articulate and explain highly techie subject matters, and then simplify it by breaking the information down in a relatable, easy to understand manner to a non-technical audience.

What you will do...


  • Meet quarterly and annual quota objectives working in tandem with the Regional Sales Manager and strategic channel sales teams to close sophisticated deals
  • 50-70% regional travel is required
  • Create and maintain demo/trial environments to support target industries and incorporate new functionality as released
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations and sales tools to highlight customization and integration capabilities
  • Enable channel partners in building their sales engineer skills;
  • Training and mentoring channel partner sales engineers how to qualify, prepare and deliver a winning Aerohive demonstration
  • Proactively provide sales engineering support to the Inside and Channel sales team throughout the sales process to ensure Aerohive solutions are successfully showcased
  • Work with Aerohive's business partners to increase Aerohive's market share and meet both short-term and long-term objectives
  • Provide input to other cross-functional departments pertaining to prospect requests and product enhancements as needed
  • Define and document policies and procedures for demo and trial infrastructures for channel partners



Who you are...


  • 5+ years’ experience in pre-sales for a network infrastructure or network security company
  • Bachelor’s degree is highly desirable
  • Proven track record of supporting complex sales cycles by preparing and delivering value-based solution demonstrations to end user customers with the field sales team, VAR’s and system integrators
  • Firm understanding of TCP/IP & enterprise networking, including routing switching and wireless (WLAN)
  • Wireless domain experience – RF propagation, 802.11 protocol and security
  • Authentication experience, including RADIUS and Active Directory, open LDAP and eDirectory are also a plus
  • Polished presentation skills and experience leading and creating technical demonstrations
  • Technical problem solver/ troubleshooter, enjoys solving challenging business dilemmas, gathering facts, and finding solutions that offer a clear explanation to problems and potential solutions
  • High degree of passion, strong customer interfacing skills and ability to evangelize an idea or concept
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
